Working with Soft Pastel. Paul Chizik.

This course will explore the freshness and immediacy of Soft Pastel.

A medium used by Masters such as Degas and Monet amongst others.

We will explore many examples, discussions and demonstrations with the aid of

samples from Old Masters using this versatile medium.

Gain an in-depth understanding of the various techniques, applications, mark making,

layering and the use of materials associated with this rich and versatile medium, such

as the use of coloured grounds, various papers and the understanding of the different

consistencies and the different brands of pastels.

With a hands on approach and demonstrations throughout the course the artist will gain

a sound understanding and confidence of the use of this complex medium.
